At the ceremony, authorized by the Chairman of PPC, the representative of the Department of Foreign Affairs announced and awarded the Diploma of Merit with an amount of VND8 million to the fishermen in recognition of their unexpected achievements in rescuing the victim on the sea.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vo Dinh Kha said that the provincial government highly valued the noble action by the fishermen, so upon receipt of the proposal by the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Chairman of PPC issued the Diploma of Merit to encourage the fishermen in their humanitarian action in compliance with the humanitarian spirit of our country.
On behalf of the Border Guard Station 308 in Tam Quan Nam of Hoai Nhon district, Mr. Huynh Cong Loi - Political Officer of the Station encouraged the fishermen to continue promoting the beautiful traditions of the Vietnamese fishermen and clinging to the sea for a true living.
In reply, on behalf of the fishermen, Mr. Nguyen Huu The - Owner of the boat expressed his deep thanks to the Chairman of PPC and the leaders of the relevant functional agencies for the care and encouragement provided to him and his team. In addition, he also expressed his hope that the functional authorities would create conditions for his case to receive the subsidies in compensation for the losses due to the incident.
On December 06th, 2019, the fishing boat No. BĐ-97585-TS captained by Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan, born in 1986 in Hoai Huong commune, Hoai Nhon district, Binh Dinh province with 05 other fishermen, while doing the fishing about 12 nautical miles from the coast of Phu My district, discovered and rescued Mr. Dr. Haas Mchael - a German person who was drifting on the sea. In spite of the strong winds with high waves and while doing the fishing trip in just only 14 days, the fishermen decided to stop the fishing trip to take the victim rescued back to the mainland and handed him over to De Gi Border Control Sub-station of Cat Khanh Border Guard Station at 15h30 on December 07th, 2019.
