Belgian Ambassador to Viet Nam visits Binh Dinh

On the morning of June 17, 2024, at the Headquarters of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan received HE. Mr. Karl Van den Bossche, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Viet Nam. Also attending the meeting were leaders of the Provincial Military Command, Departments of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, Natural Resources and Environment and Quy Nhon University.

At the reception, Ambassador Karl Van den Bossche said that was the third time he had visited Binh Dinh and was very impressed with the changes in the province's socio-economic development. The purpose of his visit was that he wanted to learn more about the dioxin contamination at Phu Cat airport, and thereby be able to discuss directly with the locality about treatment; then proposed financial support to completely eliminate the dioxin contamination at Phu Cat airport, contributing to the sustainable development of that area.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan thanked the Ambassador for his attention and hoped that the Kingdom of Belgium and the international community would continue to support and coordinate with Viet Nam in handling dioxin contamination at Phu Cat airport; thereby not affecting people's health and lives, and also creating conditions for the provincial socio-economic development.
Mr. Pham Anh Tuan said that over the past time, Binh Dinh province had continuously improved its infrastructure and fully prepared conditions to facilitate investment. The province was focusing on inviting investment in a number of areas, so he hoped that the Ambassador would support in introducing and connecting Belgian business delegations to learn about cooperation and investment opportunities in Binh Dinh, and also in helping the products that Binh Dinh had strengths to be exported to Belgium.

Ambassador Karl Van den Bossche also discussed more about directions for effective cooperation to exploit and promote potential and strengths, meeting the needs of both sides.

Within the framework of a working visit to Binh Dinh province, on the morning of June 18, 2024, the Ambassador paid a working visit to the Provincial Association forVictims of Agent Orange/Dioxin to learn about situation and care for victim of Agent Orange/dioxin in the province. On the afternoon, he went on a field survey at Phu Cat airport.
