The delegation of KV-MAP works in Binh Dinh province

On the afternoon of October 19th, 2020, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Nguyen Tuan Thanh received the delegation of the Korea – Vietnam Mine Action Project, including the representatives of Vietnam National Mine Action Centre (VNMAC), Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), headed by Deputy General Director of VNMAC Nguyen Van Nghiep. The representatives of the related departments and agencies of the province attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Mr. Cho Han Deog, Country Direction of KOICA Vietnam highly valued the coorperation of the leaders of Binh Dinh PPC and other departments and agencies of the province in project implementation. He hoped that in the coming time the related parties would strengthen more coordination so that the project could bring positive results in overcoming the consequences of bombs and mines in Binh Dinh province.
Ms. Caitlin Wiesen, UNDP Resident Representative agreed to strengthen suport for the bomb and mine victims. UNDP focuses on sustainable development; therefore, she hopes that the cleared land will help improve people’s lives and contribute to local socio-economic development, she added. She expressed her desire to continue cooperating with Binh Dinh province, KOICA and other partners in the new bomb and mine programme in the time to come.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh PPC Nguyen Tuan Thanh expressed his thanks to KOICA, UNDP and VNMAC for their suport to Binh Dinh province in effectively implementing the KV – MAP Project in recent years. To enhance the effectiveness of the project, he proposed a new coorperation program with the following activities: survey, collection and strict management of the recovered explosive materials; provision of cleared land for people in the bomb and mine affected areas; propaganda and education about bomb and mine accident prevention measures for the community; supply of health and rehabilitation services; provision of support to the localities in carrying out the livehood models for the victims. He commited himself to continuing to coordinate with the organizations and donors for the highest efficiency of the project.
On October 20th, the delegation attended the handover ceremony of cleared land and visited the project activities in Phu Cat district.
