The meeting with the delegation of Catholic Relief Services

On the morning of 29th September 2020, Deputy Director in charge of Foreign Affairs Department Vo Dinh Kha had a meeting with the delegation of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) led by Mr. Truong Duc Tung - Chief of Representative Office of CRS. The meeting was attended by the leader of the International Cooperation Division.

At the meeting, Mr. Truong Duc Tung - Chief of Representative Office of CRS gave a brief report on the results of the sustainable and interdisciplinary rehabilitation services for persons with severe disabilities project in Binh Dinh and Quang Nam provinces in 2020 (or Hold My Hand project for short). Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the project activities have been implemented as scheduled. The results were satisfactory: 913 people with severe disabilities were screened; 139 people with severe disabilities were provided with the aid devices and the mental health services at the medical clinics in the province; 462 main caretakers and collaborators were basically trained in providing homecare and support for the people with severe disabilities; 4 training courses on gender violence prevention were held with the participation of 169 medical staff; 17 trainees from 10 hospitals and 3 special education facilities took part in the speech therapy course lasting 10 months at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy; 16 trainees from 13 local hospitals of Binh Dinh province, Binh Dinh Medical College took part in the course of enhancing knowledge and rehabilitation techniques in the occupational therapy at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, trained by 2 Indian experts. Deputy Director in charge of Foreign Affairs Department Vo Dinh Kha expressed his thanks to CRS for its assistance given to the people with disabilities in the past years and felt happy with the results of the project “Hold My Hand”. He was committed to coordinating with the relevant agencies to provide support for CRS to implement the project as effectively as possible.
