The delegation of United Nations Development Programme works in Binh Dinh province

On the afternoon of 1st October 2020, at the office of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee (BD PPC), Vice Chairman Tran Chau had a meeting with the delegation of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP for short) led by Mr. Dao Xuan Lai - Head of Climate Change and Environment Division. The meeting was attended by the leaders of departments of Finance, Natural Resources and Environment, Planning and Investment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Foreign Affairs, the People’s Committee of Quy Nhon City, Quy Nhon Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, Binh Dinh Association of Aquiculture, Women’s Union of Quy Nhon City and the leader and staff of BD PPC Office.

At the meeting, Mr. Dao Xuan Lai - Head of Climate Change and Environment Division (under United Nations Development Programme) expressed his thanks to the leaders of BD PPC and the relevant agencies for their guidance and assistance in implementation of the projects; especially the Korea - Vietnam Mine Action Project and some small-scale projects in the field of aquatic products protection in Quy Nhon Bay, coral preservation in Nhon Hai commune, community-based climate change adaption in Phu Cat, Tuy Phuoc, Tay Son districts. He informed the meeting that the working visit aimed at discussing the second phase of the waste, plastic treatment project with the leader of BD PPC and the relevant agencies. The project includes main activities such as: expansion of the domestic waste collection, classification and treatment model; operation of a material recycling factory; linking the community to the relevant agencies in the waste collection and recycling, especially the plastic waste; pilot application of the fishing boats’ waste collection and treatment model; promotion of waste conveyance of the fishing boats into the seashore; reduction of waste discharged to the ocean. The total capital of the project is USD 250,000. Vice Chairman of BD PPC Tran Chau highly values the project proposal and assigns the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to work and agree with UNDP on the proposed project activities to complete the project proposal. He hopes that the second phase of the project will enhance the capacity and awareness of the local people in the environment protection, which contributes to the sustainable development of tourism in Binh Dinh province in the coming time.
