Visit by the delegation of the Directorate of Fisheries and Embassy of the United States of America in Ha Noi to Binh Dinh province

On the morning of September 15th, 2020, the delegation of the Directorate of Fisheries and Embassy of the United States of America in Ha Noi paid a working visit to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. Mr. Tran Van Phuc, Acting Director received the delegation. The leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Subdepartment of Fisheries and Quy Nhon fishing port also joined the meeting with the delegation.

At the meeting, the representative of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development presented some brief information on the efforts of the province in combating the illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU fishing); the projects participated by the agriculture and rural development sector of the province, especially the electronic diary preparation project.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. William A. Comley, Maritime Law Enforcement Advisor shared some general information about the situation of cooperation between the United Sates of America and Vietnam in the fisheries sector. He highly valued Binh Dinh as one of the provinces and cities in Vietnam that combated the IUU fishing very well.

After the meeting, the delegation paid site visits to Quy Nhon fishing port and Subdepartment of Fisheries to learn about the procedures of fishing vessels’ departure from and arrival to the port, use and monitoring of the vessel monitoring system.

After finishing the visit to Binh Dinh province, the delegation went to Nha Trang city to visit Nha Trang University, Institute of Oceanography and the related agencies in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.
