On the afternoon of November 28th in Hanoi, “Meet the UK” was co-hosted by MoFA, the British Embassy in Vietnam and BBGV. The event was attended by Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and representatives of ministries, branches and 63 local goverments of Vietnam.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Bui Thanh Son said Vietnam and the United Kingdom were soon associated and became strategic partners, working together for peace, security, prosperity and development. At the same time, he affirmed this meeting had practical significance, strengthening exchanges in the various fields between the two countries.
The British Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward thanked MoFA of Vietnam for organizing the event and considered it an important opportunity to interact with the leaders of the local goverments of Vietnam. He believes that 2020 will be a landmark for the two countries.
In two sessions of discussions in many themes, the participants expressed concerns and gave specific solutions to the strengthening and deepening of bilateral relations on the areas of common interests such as technology and innovation, education, environment, climate change and tourism. Binh Dinh delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Phi Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of Department of Foreign Affairs and Department of Planning and Investment attended the meeting, thereby contacted, introduced the information on Binh Dinh province, and invited British businesses to invest in the fields of education - training, agriculture, industry, trade - services and tourism as well as infrastructure development in the province in the near future.
In the framework of this event, MoFA also in cooperation with British University Vietnam (BUV) organized a high-level seminar on the topic "Leadership skills in the digital age" for the leaders of the provinces and cities of Vietnam on the morning of November 29th at the BUV’s campus.
