Dissemination Workshop on the Project “Pediatric Eye Service in Binh Dinh”

On the morning of 19th December 2019, Orbis Vietnam in coordination with Department of Health, Binh Dinh Eye Hospital held the Dissemination Workshop on the Project “Pediatric Eye Service in Binh Dinh”. The workshop was attended by the representatives of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee Office, Departments of Health, Foreign Affairs, Clinic Centers of the districts, provinces of Quang Ngai, Kon Tum and the press.
Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hương - Director of Orbis Vietnam highly valued the project results. The intensive development of treatment, operation, eye care for children has contributed to the decrease of blindness rate and the improvement of children’s amblyopia in Binh Dinh province and the neighbouring provinces.
The workshop was to sum up the activities and results of the project achieved in the 2014 - 2019 period, learn experience and discuss the plans of maintaining the results as well as extending the service for the children’s better approach to the qualified eye care services. The project “Pediatric Eye Service in Binh Dinh” is financed by Orbis International with the total funding of USD 1,218,493 (equivalent to VND 20 billion). The aims of the project are to decrease the blindness rate, improve the children’s amblyopia in Binh Dinh province and the neighbouring provinces.
The project results are to establish the ophthalmology for the children at Binh Dinh Eye Hospital with more than 61,000 turns of examination, 66,000 turns of treatment, 1,650 operations. In addition, the staff of Binh Dinh General Hospital are trained in the detection and treatment of ROP./.
