“Meet Japan 2020” held in Hanoi

On the afternoon of November 25th, 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in coordination with the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and Japanese agencies and organizations held the “Meet Japan 2020” conference in Hanoi.

The event was attended by Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Do Nhat Hoang – Director General of the Foreign Investment Agency of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the leaders of provinces and departments, agencies of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, hundreds of well-known businesses of the Vietnam’s side; H.E Mr. Yamada Takio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, Mr. Watanabe Nobuhiro, Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City; the representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, the professional agencies of Japan in Vietnam; the Japanese business community and non-governmental organizations of the other side.

The “Meet Japan” event, first organized in 2017 and annually organized since then, aims to support the local governments and businesses of Vietnam in strengthening the international integration for the socio-economic development, especially the connectivity and effective cooperation between Vietnam and the foreign strategic and important partners worldwide.

Opening the event, Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that MOFA, the functional agencies and representative missions in Japan would actively coordinate and provide support for the localities of Vietnam in strengthening connectivity, increasing the friendship and cooperation relation with the Japanese partners in various forms. He hoped that the conference was an ideal opportunity for the leaders of all Japanese representative missions and business community in Vietnam to exchange ideas and promote cooperation in the potential fields with the leaders and representatives of all provinces and cities of Vietnam.

At the conference, the two sides focused on discussing the most remarkable fields of cooperation such as investment, commerce, agriculture, digital transformation, smart city, cooperation at the local level, cooperation in human resources and education - training. The organizing board of the event also arranged hundreds of meetings on the sidelines of the conference between the leaders and businesses of the Vietnam’s side and the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam and the leaders of the Japanese agencies and businesses.
