Online meeting with Izumisano City, Japan

On the morning of March 25th, 2021, at the headquarters of the Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee chaired the online meeting with Izumisano City, Japan. The meeting was attended by the leaders of the Office of the Provincial People’s Committee, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Education and Training and Economic Zone Administration. In Izumisano City, Japan, it was chaired by Mr. Chiyomatsu Hiroyasu, Major of the city and attended by Vice Mayor of the city, Director of the City Department of Education, Manager of the City Water Supply and Drainage Project, International Exchange Manager, Friendship City Exchange Promotion Manager and Mr. Kato Hitoshi, Chairman of Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai and Chairman of Kato Group.

The online meeting was held to discuss and agree to implement some cooperative contents in the coming time. At the meeting, after presentation of the process of friendly exchange and cooperation between two sides established in October, 2019, the two parties discussed the contents to be implemented in the coming time including: (1) During COVID-19, when delegations cannot visit each other, the two parties agreed to hold meetings of representatives from both sides at the video conference twice a year, in which the first meeting is held at the beginning of the year to discuss and agree to the contents to be implemented in the year and the other held at the end of the year to evaluate the results achieved in the year; (2) both sides agreed to hold a children’s art exchange; children from both sides will draw pictures of their localities and introduce each other; (3) when the spread of COVID-19 has settled down, Izumisano City will dispatch a staff member from the City to Binh Dinh Province to coordinate the exchange program between the two sides. At the meeting, the Department of Foreign Affairs was assigned to chair and cooperate with the functional body of Izumisano City and the relevant agencies of the province to help the Provincial People’s Committee carry out the first and third contents and the Department of Education and Training to be in charge of the art exchange.

In the past time, especially from 2012, Binh Dinh Province frequently carried out the investment promotion activities in Tokyo capital, Osaka and Kansai, Japan to introduce the information about the province to the Japanese partners and to ask the Japanese investors to conduct surveys, seek investment opportunities and invest in the province. The province also assigned its teams to attend the exchange programmes, the cooperation promotion events between Vietnam and Japan organized by the Ministries and Central agencies of Vietnam, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam. Many Japanese enterprises such as Kato Group, Brain Works Group, NTT DATA Group, Fujiwara Co, Ltd and so on conducted surveys and sought investment opportunities in the sectors such as renewable energy, manufacturing, labourer export, health, wood, water supply and sewerage, fishery, safe vegetable and so on in the province. As a result, Binh Dinh province has attracted 19 Japanese investors with a total investment capital of USD 90.28 million.
