Chairman of Provincial People's Committee receives Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam
On the afternoon of September 11, 2023, at the Provincial People's Committee Headquarters, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan chaired a meeting with Mr. Shawm Steil, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam. The meeting was attended by representatives of leaders of the Provincial People's Committee Office, the departments of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, Industry and Trade, Tourism, Information and Communications and the Economic Zone Administration.

At the reception, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan welcomed Mr. Shawm Steil to visit Binh Dinh province on the occasion of attending the Conference "IPU Science for Peace" at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) and gave an overview of the province's socio-economic development situation. In particular, Binh Dinh province is focusing on inviting investors with potential to invest in projects related to 5 pillars, including: industry; tourism; high-tech agriculture; seaport and logistics services; urban economy associated with the urbanization. It is expected that in mid-November, Binh Dinh province will organize an investment promotion trip to the United States and Canada. Therefore, the province hopes that the Ambassador will pay attention to support and create conditions for the delegation to introduce and promote the province's image, potential, strengths, needs, and development orientation to Canadian partners and investors; and also connect potential investors to Binh Dinh province to learn about and cooperate in investment and trade.
Talking at the meeting, Ambassador Shawm Steil shared that the fields that Canada is most interested in are the development of agriculture, education and technology. In October, the Canadian side will have a working session with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam on supporting the building of traceability and food safety. This is an opportunity for Canada and Vietnam to promote cooperation and development in the agricultural sector. For Binh Dinh province, after this meeting, the Ambassador will contact and discuss with the Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada and with the province's focal point agency to provide appropriate support for the province's investment promotion delegation in Canada next November.
