Binh Dinh attracts investment from Thailand

On the afternoon of September 23rd, 2022, at the headquarters of the Provincial People’s Committee, Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee in cooperation with Becamex IDC Corporation and the Federation of Thai Industries organized a seminar on investment opportunities for the Thai businesses in the face-to-face and online forms.
The seminar in Binh Dinh province was co-chaired by Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Mr. Nguyen Van Lang, General Director of Becamex Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company, and in Bangkok (Thailand) chaired by Mr. Nilsuwan Leelarasamee, Vice President of the Federation of Thai Industries. It attracted the attendance of the leaders of the relevant departments and agencies of Binh Dinh province, Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Piyakul Suwansumrit, representative of Becamex IDC Corporation in Thailand and about 80 Thai enterprises.

Addressing the seminar, Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee thanked Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn and the Thai businesses for attending the seminar, being interested in Binh Dinh province and considered it as an opportunity to meet and share the information about potential, investment cooperation opportunities between Binh Dinh province and the Thai businesses. He informed the Thai businesses about the potential, strengths and investment opportunities in Binh Dinh province and said that to attract investment in Binh Dinh, the Provincial People's Committee and the agencies and localities in the province had promoted and attracted investment from the domestic and foreign investors; actively developed the investment and trade cooperation relations with the foreign enterprises, including the Thai ones. "Coming to Binh Dinh, the businesses and investors will be given all favorable conditions for successful project implementation and sustainable development", he pledged.

Talking about the investment opportunities in Vietnam, Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City highly valued the recovery and rapid growth of the Vietnamese economy, especially in the past 02 years, Vietnam is one of a few countries with positive growth while most countries face difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She also highly valued the potential and advantages of Binh Dinh province in terms of the natural conditions, socio-economic infrastructure, human resources, etc. and said it was an attractive new investment destination in Vietnam.

The attendants of the seminar spent a lot of time listening to the Thai businesses' presentations on the investment opportunities and policies in Binh Dinh province. The presentations showed good impressions on the outstanding results in economic development of Binh Dinh; highly appreciated the provincial leaders' interest in the Thai businesses in Binh Dinh province, the advantages in terms of traffic conditions, markets, high-quality labor resources, strengths, potential and investment opportunities for the sustainable production and business development in Binh Dinh province and also raised some questions for the province. Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee together with the leaders of the relevant departments and agencies of the province, the representative of CPPC Outdoor Wear (Vietnam) Co., Ltd (Thai investor in Binh Dinh province), the representative of Becamex IDC Corporation in Thailand answered all questions and clarified the issues that Thai businesses raised, such as: the mechanisms and policies for attraction of investment in Binh Dinh province; fields and industries that the province is giving priorities in attracting and supporting investment; expenses to be incurred when the Thai businesses come to Binh Dinh to learn and register for investment; land rent in Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh industrial park; land rent exemption and reduction policy; source of labor and regulations on workers' wages,...

In Binh Dinh province, there are 09 enterprises of Thailand or with capital from Thailand investing in 10 projects with a total registered investment capital of more than USD 106 million, of which there are 05 projects in the service sector, 04 industrial projects and 01 fishery project. These projects are effectively working.
