Meeting with Foreign Non-Governmental Organizations, licensed in Binh Dinh province

Authorized by Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee, on the afternoon of 31st May 2022, Binh Dinh Department of Foreign Affairs held the meeting with Foreign Non-Governmental Organizations (FNGOs), licensed in Binh Dinh province. The meeting was attended by Ms. Do Thi Kim Dung - Vice Head of People’s Assistance Coordination Committee (under Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations); Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh - Director of Foreign Affairs Department, who chaired the meeting and 10 FNGOs licensed in Binh Dinh province; representatives of departments, agencies, local governments, leaders of Foreign Affairs Department, members of Provincial FNGO Affairs Board, projects and non-projects owners and divisions of Foreign Affairs Department.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh - Director of Foreign Affairs Department gave information on the activities of FNGOs in Binh Dinh province in the first months of the year 2022. Accordingly, the province has 17 FNGOs implementing 8 projects, 8 non-projects items in the fields of Health, Education and Training, Climate Change and Social Affairs Solutions with the total disbursement value of USD 389,723, accounting nearly 11% of the total committed budget. Despite the complicated effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, FNGOs and the projects owners have put their great efforts into the implementation of the programs, projects and non-project items. The progress of implementing some programs, projects and non-project items are being boosted, some large-scaled projects have finished, helping the beneficiaries in studying, working, improving their health and becoming more energetic in the daily life. Besides the great results the FNGO affairs of Binh Dinh province remain several limits such as: the implementation of some projects behind schedule compared to the plan, the temporary assistance termination of some FNGOs in the province due to their difficult finance, the sharing information between the competent agencies and FNGOs not often; some FNGOs licensed not implementing the activities in the province, so on…In addition, Director of Foreign Affairs Department Nguyen Thai Binh gave a brief presentation of 24 project proposals calling for FNGOs’ aid in 2022 in five fields of Health, Education and Training, Agriculture and Rural Development, Social Affairs Solutions and Environmental Protection so that the FNGOs could get the information on the assistance demand of Binh Dinh province and consider their plans for giving assistance to the needed fields in the coming time.

At the meeting, the representatives of FNGOs, provincial departments, agencies, local governments responsibly raised their ideas, contributing to the promotion of FNGOs’ aids mobilization, management in the future. Remarkably, Mr. Pham Dung - Head of Representative Office of Medisch Comite Nederland-Vietnam (from Netherlands) highly appreciated Binh Dinh Foreign Affairs Department’s organization of this meeting with the plentiful, practical contents. Typically, the Binh Dinh Foreign Affairs Department chose, proposed the suitable projects which were easy for the FNGOs to implement. Mr. Pham Dung also said that this was an important occasion for the FNGOs and the provincial departments, agencies, local governments to share the information on the demand and relevant fields which FNGOs could give the assistance in the province.

Giving a directing statement at the meeting, Ms. Do Thi Kim Dung - Vice Head of People’s Assistance Coordination Committee (under Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations) praised the effective ways of Binh Dinh Foreign Affairs Department in the past years, especially the methodical organization of this meeting and the efforts of the provincial agencies and local government in the FNGO aid mobilization, management in the first months of the year 2022. Ms. Do Thi Kim Dung also requested the Binh Dinh Foreign Affairs Department to continue the achieved results, strengthen the propaganda and maintain the relationship with the FNGOs, especially the organizations and individuals who have implemented many projects, programs and the potential organizations so as to effectively solve the demand of the province, including the projects, non-projects items calling for FNGOs’ aid.

At the end of the meeting, Director of Foreign Affairs Department Nguyen Thai Binh expressed his thanks for the delegates’ ideas and acknowledged the direction of Ms. Do Thi Kim Dung - Vice Head of People’s Assistance Coordination Committee. He also promised to continue the close coordination with FNGOs  licensed in the province as well as the relevant departments, agencies in carrying out the tasks for boosting the FNGOs’ aid mobilization, management in the coming time, contributing to the successful implementation of hunger eradication, poverty reduction and social welfare in the province. 

On the morning of the same day, in the framework of the meeting agenda, the officials of Binh Dinh Foreign Affairs Department took the delegates of FNGOs to the funded projects sites in Quy Nhon city.
