Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Phi Long accompanying Prime Minister's official visit to Japan

At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, the high-ranking delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh paid an official visit to Japan from November 22nd to 25th. Mr. Nguyen Phi Long, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee accompanied the delegation and carried out some activities to strengthen cooperation between Binh Dinh province and Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai city and Yoshino town, Nara prefecture of Japan.

The friendship, trust and understanding of the people of Vietnam and Japan are the solid foundation for the strong development of the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general, Binh Dinh province and the Japanese partners, localities in particular over the years. The Prime Minister’s visit to Japan has created favorable conditions for the investment promotion and friendship cooperation activities between the two countries to resume after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the Vietnam - Japan investment promotion conference, in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Phi Long, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Mr. Nakai Akimoto, Mayor of Yoshino town, Nara prefecture of Japan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation orientation between the two sides to exchange delegations, officials and experts for survey, sharing experience in planting and caring for the cherry blossom trees; promotion of cooperation between the two sides in carrying out the next steps for the establishment of the friendship and cooperation relationship between the People's Committee of Vinh Thanh district and the government of Yoshino town, Nara prefecture, Japan. Yoshino town is known as a famous cherry blossom viewing place in Japan and also a locality of wood processing and manufacturing industries.

Also at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Phi Long received 10,000 Shirojamasakura cherry blossom trees presented by Mr. Hitoshi Kato, Chairman of Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai city to Binh Dinh province. With the support provided by the Association and the Japan Cherry Blossom Association, the cherry blossom project with initial 1,000 trees has been implemented in Vinh Son commune, Vinh Thanh district, Binh Dinh province since 2018.

During the visit, he also awarded the Investment Registration Certificate for the expansion of the seafood processing and preservation factory and the Japanese cultural tourist area of ​​Evertrust Co., Ltd and carried out some other activities to strengthen cooperation between the province and the Japanese localities and businesses.

Binh Dinh province has attracted 19 projects invested by the Japanese investors with a total investment capital of USD 92.275 million. Some typical projects are  the “technology and fishing gear transfer to implement the tuna fishing - purchasing - exporting to Japan model” project with the support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai; the Japanese technology-applied safe vegetable model project implemented by Kei's Joint Stock Company and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in An Nhon town; Binh Dinh - Japan Koi Fish Center Project and some other projects effectively operating in the province.
