Meeting with the Korean Trade - Investment Promotion Agency in Ho Chi Minh City
On the morning of September 29th, the working group of Binh Dinh province led by Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs had a meeting with Dr. Jeong Joon Kyu General Director of the Korea Trade - Investment Promotion Agency in Ho Chi Minh City (KOTRA HCMC) at KOTRA HCMC headquarters to discuss and implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the People's Committee of Binh Dinh Province and KOTRA HCMC in 2022.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh informed KOTRA HCMC some basic features about the socio-economic situation of Binh Dinh province; potential, strengths, and investment attraction activities in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Industrial Park and industrial parks in the province as well as future development direction of the province.
Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh, on behalf of relevant agencies of Binh Dinh province, gave a brief on the activities that the two sides had implemented in recent time related to the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province and KOTRA HCMC. Also, it was recommended that during the coming time, KOTRA HCMC will support Binh Dinh province to promote information of Binh Dinh province to Korean businesses and investors through investment promotion conferences organized by KOTRA and on the websites of KOTRA and KOTRA HCMC; coordinated with relevant Korean authorities to organize and guide Korean businesses and investors to Binh Dinh province to survey and seek investment and business cooperation opportunities, especially those an area in which Binh Dinh has potential, advantages and of mutual interest; supported businesses of Binh Dinh province to access the Korean market, especially for high-tech products and take advantage of the Vietnam - Korea Free Trade Agreement (VKFTA) to implement commitments under the agreement; coordinate to promote and support the main products of Binh Dinh province (food, seafood, garments, shoes, wood and wooden products...) exported to the Korean market and vice versa; coordinated with the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province to organize annual investment, trade and tourism promotion conferences with Korean businesses in Binh Dinh province or in Ho Chi Minh City; supported the opening of international flights from Incheon city to Phu Cat airport, Binh Dinh...
On behalf of KOTRA HCMC, Dr. Jeong Joon Kyu, General Director of KOTRA HCMC, said that currently the KOTRA presented in 86 countries with 127 offices, is playing a leading role in Korea's trade and investment promotion activities and providing overseas business and investment support services for Korean businesses. Since its establishment, KOTRA HCMC has always tried its best to promote trade and investment between Korean and Vietnamese businesses. In addition, Mr. Jeong Joon Kyu also added that currently, most Korean businesses want to invest in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi because of their advantages and information on investment attraction of these localities is complete, clear, and easy to access. In the coming time, KOTRA HCMC will actively coordinate with agencies of Binh Dinh province to promote Binh Dinh’s imagine to Korean businesses and partners as stated in the signed Memorandum of Cooperation between the two parties.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh thanked KOTRA HCMC because even though the 6-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday had begun, KOTRA HCMC still arranged working time with Binh Dinh delegation; also invited the Board of Directors of KOTRA HCMC to attend the Meeting with Heads of diplomatic missions and foreign organizations in Vietnam, organized by the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province in Quy Nhon City in November 2023.
